Jet Airways became the second airline to report a surprise net profit in April-June, on robust other income derived from aircraft leases, sending its shares 3 percent higher in a weak market.

The company's net profit stood at Rs 24.7 crore, as against a loss of Rs 123.16 crore a year ago and a emCNBC-TV18/em estimate of net loss of Rs 198 crore.

The company's total income from operations stood at Rs 4,587.27 against Rs 3,541.6 crore a year ago. This compares with an estimate of Rs 4,900 crore.
