Sony’s Xperia Z out in India on 6 March

Sony has confirmed the date of the launch of its flagship device, the Xperia Z in India as 6 March. The Sony Xperia handle tweeted this out today and the cover page of the handle has been updated to a screengrab with the date 06/03/2013 and a hint of the Xperia Z smartphones in the background.

The tweet links to this page here, which has a live running countdown to the days of the launch. You can a see smartphone with Katrina Kaif’s image in the background. She is the brand ambassador for Sony Xperia smartphones in India.

Sony had also updated the cover photo of their official Facebook page with the date 06/03/2013 and the Xperia Z smartphones in the background.

Sony Xperia Zhas a 1.5 GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor, with a 5-inch full HD screen. The screen resolution is 1920 x 1080. The device runs Android 4.1 aka Jelly Bean, has 2GB RAM and up to 16GB of memory space. This is expanable to 32GB via a microSD card slot. It also support 4G/LTE band for high-speed Internet. The smartphone is touted as a water and dust-resistant device.

It has a pretty heavy duty rear camera with 13.1 megapixel and a 2.2MP front-facing camera. The device supports Near field communications (NFC).
