Buying input devices for your gaming needs can be quite a headache, sometimes you find the one which is perfect for you, but it costs the earth and you really don’t wanna spend that much. Most of the products are priced quite high with little or no attention paid to those who want performance, but at a lower cost.

Do they serve their purpose?

It seems that Razer has now decided to fill that void with the release of the Cyclosa Bundle. As the name suggests, it contains the Razer Abyssus mouse and the Cyclosa keyboard which are specifically keeping in mind the needs of your run of the mill gamer. But do they serve their purpose and give the buyer the performance he requires, but at an attractive price?

Let’s begin with the Razer Abyssus shall we?

Razer Abyssus

Engage your enemy

The Razer Abyssus can be termed as an entry level gaming mouse, but don’t let the ‘entry level’ fool you. It’s an excellent mouse for gamers who want a simple no frills mouse. We have already reviewed the Razer Abyssus (which you can read here) and while the sample Razer provided for our review had a DPI setting of up to 3500, the most the one in this bundle goes upto is 1800 DPI. Apart from that, the Abyssus in the bundle is no different and performs almost exactly the same.

Includes all the options you need

As our review put it, “For this test we played 3 games, Valve’s epic zombie game Left 4 Dead 2, Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Crysis Warhead. What we noticed right off the bat, that no matter what the game was, the precision was bang on, every headshot, baseball bat and grenade landed exactly where we wanted it to land”.

The specifications for the Razer Abyssus (Bundle) are:

  • 1800dpi Razer Precision infrared sensor
  • 1000Hz Ultrapolling / 1ms response time
  • On-The-Fly Sensitivity adjustment
  • No Drift Control
  • Always-On mode
  • Ultra-large non-slip buttons
  • 16-bit ultra-wide data path
  • 60-120 inches per second and 15g of acceleration
  • Three independently programmable Hyperesponse buttons
  • Ambidextrous design
  • Scroll wheel with 24 individual click positions
  • Zero-acoustic Ultraslick Teflon feet
  • Seven-foot, lightweight, non-tangle cord

The Razer  Cyclosa Keyboard

Has great features to match the looks...

The Razer Cyclosa was built from the ground up and it shows in the finished product. The Cyclosa has an all black colour scheme with the cool blue LED Razer logo in the bottom centre. The active functions such as the 1000Hz Ultrapolling/1ms response time are displayed via LED as well. These little details add a touch of coolness to the Cyclosa.

Manage your macros, keys and even the lighting options...

The keyboard has a space efficient spill proof design (which is a big boon during your energy drink powered gaming sessions), fully programmable macro keys for all your MMO gamers out there as well as the ability to switch between 10 different software profiles at the touch of a button. Completing the list of features is the Gaming optimized key matrix which minimizes key ghosting for your keys.

The only little issue I had with the keyboard is that the print of the buttons was a bit too grey for my liking as it tended to melt into the all black keys. I also would have liked backlighting on the keys, since most gamers tend to take care of their business at the end of the day. But apart from these little niggles, the Cyclosa is a great keyboard for your basic gaming needs.

For a full rundown of the specs, take a look below

  • Space efficient spill proof design
  • 1000Hz Ultrapolling / 1ms response time
  • Programmable keys
  • 10 customizable software profiles with on-the-fly switching
  • Gaming optimized key matrix for minimized ghosting
  • Braided cable

At an MRP of Rs. 2,699, the Cyclosa Bundle is a steal for gamers who are just starting out and don’t know what to buy to fulfill their need for performance. The Abyssus itself retails for Rs. 1,699 and bundled with a great keyboard makes the deal all the more sweeter.
