So rumours around Nokia PureView rumours just refuse to die down in India. Perhaps it’s because for once a phone company is launching their phone in India first, unlike Samsung which told Indian fans that they weren’t getting Samsung Galaxy Nexus phone. Just yesterday the web was buzzing that Nokia’s website “source code” of 808 PureView page showed the price tag of the phone as Rs 29,999 in India. Now IBN-Live reports quoting Nokia, that all of this is just buzz and that the phone is going to be priced much higher. Nokia in an official statement has denied these rumours. “We outsource certain chores, and for that we have to give price related information. So, in such cases, we furnish a dummy price, and not the actual (true) price. In this case also (the one mentioned in the source code), Rs 29,999 is a dummy price and the 808 Pureview will not be available for this price,” said the spokesperson for the company according to IBN-Live. The smartphone comes with a large, high-resolution 41 megapixel sensor camera, powered by high-performance Carl Zeiss optics and new pixel oversampling technology. It runs on the Symbian Belle OS and has 16 GB internal storage, 4.0-inch AMOLED Display, 1.3 GHz ARM 11 processor and 512 MB of RAM. India remains one of the few markets where Nokia still expects some growth, partly because the Apple iPhone is far too expensive for most users and even the top range Samsung products often cost more than Rs 25,000. The question is will Nokia lose out in India by pricing it’s latest smartphone too high?
