Google’ Nexus 7 tablet has proved to be big hit and for Taiwanese firm Asustek, which co-manufactured the device, this has meant an increase in profits. According to the Wall Street Journal Asustek executives said following the company’s third-quarter earnings conference, that the Nexus 7 has been a roaring success. Asustek Chief Financial Officer David Chang was quoted by WSJ as saying, “At the beginning, it was, for instance, 500K units a month, then maybe 600, 700K. This latest month, it was close to 1 million.” Even though Apple sold some 14 million iPad for this quarter, 3 million devices for the quarter is a pretty big number for Google’s tiny tablet. Asus also showed a 43 percent jump in net profits — $230 million compared to $160 million last year, says the report.
