Youtube complied to the top request from its users on July 29th, increasing their maximum upload time from 10 minutes to 15 minutes. In doing this, the Google owned website is helping thousands of amateur film makers with their careers. With the 5 extra minutes of upload time, wanna be film makers have more room to experiment with the visual medium, and allows for more films from their collection to be uploaded and viewed by friends and professionals the world over.
Youtube attributes this increased time to an improvement in their Content ID system, which is able to recognize copyright protected material.
