WhatsApp Status update that we reported previously is online for everyone to use now. The company announced the rollout of the update a few days back and now the update is available for all the users across the globe.
You need to check for any updates on Google Play Store or Apple App Store to ensure that your app is on the latest version. The status itself does not need updating as the rollout is a server side switch that WhatsApp activates.
This feature takes almost the same approach that Snapchat and its ‘Snaps’ take, right from disappearing after 24 hours to the ability to doodle on the video or photo that we are adding to the status. To get started, head to the ‘Status’ tab and then tap on the new status button. The camera interface will launch when you press on the ‘New Status’ button giving you the option to select an existing photo, click a photo or shoot a video, in addition, to switching the camera from front to back vice-versa. All the new ‘Statuses that you add will be put under ‘My status’ which can be accessed using the three dots on the right of the screen.
We have detailed the rollout, features and how to get started with the Status updates. One thing to note is that since it is now available for everyone, you can slide up from the bottom to 'reply' to the status update.
Once you reply to the message, the reply is sent as a conversational reply to the individual conversation of the contact. The 'Status' bar shows a notification at any new 'Status' updates from other people.
