I recently did a story on how the movie Unstoppable was released as an Android version. Even Paramount recently offered films like Zoolander and School of Rock on Windows Phone 7. Sources say that Warner’s doing something similar and it’s time for all the Apple fanboys to get excited, as they’re releasing The Dark Night and Inception for iPhones and iPads. And that’s just the start, as they plan to release more films later on as well. But does this mean that these movies will be available for the iPod touch as well? I sure do hope so.
Movie portability - now on your iPhone
Warner has actually made a pretty smart move by offering free apps with some bonus content. They’ve also added the first five minutes of the movie, but you’ll have to pay $9.99 and $11.99 to unlock the rest of The Dark Knight and Inception respectively. Apparently Warner says this is better than downloading the movies from iTunes, as there are plenty of extras including Facebook and Twitter integration.
I think this is definitely a good move, as you will be able to simply download these movies as apps. Our lovely iTunes store doesn’t allow us to buy movies, so this will definitely be considered as a big advantage to many.
