A couple of weeks ago Pod2G had announced through his blog that iDevices running on the Apple A5 chip were to get the untethered jailbreak treatment in a few weeks. Though the hack for jailbreaking the latest iOS devices from Apple are yet not available for a general release, Pod2G and his fellow hackers have released an image and a video of an iPhone 4S and an iPad 2 running an untethered jailbreak on Apple’s latest operating software – iOS 5.0.1.
From the video above posted by the Chronic Dev Team showing an iPhone 4S functioning flawlessly using the untethered jailbreak with the Cydia app running smoothly as well. The video also demonstrates various functions of the iPhone 4S working without any glitches including Siri. In a later post on Pod2G’s blog, he shows a picture of the Apple iPad 2 running the jailbreak and he also mentions that the app he wrote called IntelliScreenX, works with both the devices.

There is no timeframe as of yet when this form of the jailbreak for the tablet and smartphone will be available but in a post on Pod2G’s blog, he states, ‘Only a few to wait now.’ For those who are using iDevices other than the one’s mentioned, the untethered jailbreak solution is already available and for more information on it, click here.
