The Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister, Radha Mohan Singh has launched a portal for addressing problems in the agricultural sector. The platform is known as e-Krishi Samvad, and is a portal that allows agricultural workers and other stakeholders to directly approach the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) with the problems they face. The platform is meant for farmers, students, researchers and entrepreneurs.
Dr. T. Mohapatra, (DG, ICAR), Shri C. Roul (Secretary, ICAR), Dr. AK Singh (DDG, Agricultural Extension) and Dr. SK Singh (Project Director, DKMA) and other senior officials of ICAR were also present during the launch at Krishi Bhavan.
People can directly contact ICAR through the web site, and also through sms. Images of diseases in crops, fish or animals can be uploaded, and specialists will instantly provide diagnostics and suggest remedial measures. Domain experts as well as the various ICAR research institutes are also available to answer any questions that people may have. The portal also serves information relevant to the welfare and development of agricultural stakeholders.
In the ICAR web site, the e-Krishi manch appears in the "quick links" sections. Users have to first sign up for an account to avail the service, which has to be authorised by the site administrators. An email id is necessary for signing up.
