The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has asked all enrollment agencies and registrars to complete the procedure for GST applicants and taxpayers on priority. The UIDAI has instructed the acceleration of the process for GST applicants and taxpayers who are required to update their mobile numbers on Aadhaar. The update of the mobile number to the Aadhaar is done through biometric authentication, and thus requires the physical presence of the applicant at the registrar or enrollment agency.
Dr. Ajay Bhushan Pandey, Chief Executive Officer of UIDAI said "These centers have been advised to use Update Client Lite (UCL) wherever available for updating mobile numbers. In cases where UCL is not available, mobile update may be got done using offline Enrolment Client Multi Platform (ECMP). The registrars and EAs have been asked to upload the packets immediately preferably on the same day."
The registrars and enrollment agencies have been authorised to collect Rs 25 as fees every time the mobile number is updated in Aadhaar. The facility for updating or enrolling for Aadhaar is available in 40,000 permanent enrolment centers across the country. Citizens can locate enrollment centers nearby where they can update the Aadhaar details with their phone numbers through the UIDAI website.
