Twitter experiences major outage before returning to normal

In a scare to most power users of the micro-blogging website, Twitter services went down for a good thirty minutes and faced service disruptions for about an hour just past midnight today.

Users found that they were unable to access Twitter and were seeing a time-lag in the delivery of their tweets earlier this morning. Twitter updated its status blog to assure users that the issue was only temporary and had been caused due to an error in routine change. Twitter was unavailable to users from about 1:30 AM IST to 2 AM IST. “We rolled back the erroneous change as soon as we identified the issue,” wrote the micro-blogging website.

Twitter also said that some users were experiencing tweet delivery delays from about 2 AM IST to 2:30 AM IST. The issue has since been fixed, says the social networking website. Downrightnow shows that the last widespread disruption Twitter saw was around 6:30 AM this morning and the service seems to be up and running right now.

Since the disruption took place at around 1 PM Pacific Daylight Time in the US, it led to a lot of Twitter users expressing their angst post the site coming back on. “Twitter being down was just a sneak preview of what the end of the world is going to be like,” tweeted a user named @Lohanthony, while Twitter user @Raylopez tweeted, “Me while twitter was down: *refresh* *refresh* *cry* *refresh* *refresh* *go outside* *come back in 2 minutes later* *refresh* *cry again*”

While the service disruption also spread to Twitter apps on mobile devices and third-party apps, the service seems fine now. If you’re still facing issues with Twitter, let us know in the comments section below.
