Transcend unveils 8GB aXeRamT DDR3-2400 and DDR3-2133 memory kits

All the eye candy and DX11 goodness in video games doesn't come easy. What you need is a lot of processing muscle and all the bandwidth your gaming rig can muster to feed the monster that is the framebuffer. Fast and overclockable RAM modules are therefore always welcome for gamers. It's a good thing then that flash-based storage and memory manufacturer Transcend has added two new RAM modules to its aXeRam Overclocking Memory Module range. According to the RAM maker, the new 8GB aXeRam DDR3-2400 and DDR3-2133 memory kits combine high capacity, clock speeds and low voltage, which sounds great for overclockers. The modules are expected to hit the street in a month; however, pricing details haven't been revealed at the moment.

The modules support the latest Extreme Memory Profile (XMP) version 1.3, which is an easy and hassle-free means to get guaranteed certified overclock values from supported memory modules. This feature allows both novice and advanced users to overclock their aXeRam DDR3 modules on Intel Core processors.

With 8GB of total capacity (2 x 4GB), a clock frequency of 2400MHz (PC3-19200) and timings of 11-12-11-29, the DDR3-2400 kit is touted to provide stability at high clock speeds and voltage of just 1.65V. Lower voltages are desirable because that translates into a dual benefit of reduced heat dissipation as well as minimised power consumption. The 8GB DDR3-2133 kit similarly contains two identically matched DDR3-2133 modules. The RAM sticks are rated at a clock frequency of 2133 MHz (PC3-17000), with timings of 10-11-10-27. Unlike the 2400MHz version, these modules have a lower operating voltage of 1.6V.

Both new modules — the aXeRam DDR3-2400 and DDR3-2133 dual-channel kits — use a 8-layer PCB construction and high-purity aluminum-finned heat sinks to keep module temperatures low and further improve stability under load. Better heat dissipation goes a long way in ensuring stable overclocks. Transcend also provides a bespoke aXeMod software as a free download. This utility works in tandem with aXeRam overclocking memory modules and enables users to easily manage memory parameters and monitor operating temperatures through a simple GUI.

The modules are backed by Transcend's Limited Lifetime Warranty, these DDR3 memory modules are aimed at hardcore gamers and enthusiasts looking to get the most out of their high-end systems.
