Fast progressing technology, especially that in the television space has been breaking every conceivable barrier. After Sharp announced the first of its kind 80-inch LCD HDTV with smart TV capabilities, Toshiba, in a bid to outshine them have announced their 55-inch Regza 55X3 3D television that can be viewed with the naked eye.
World's first naked-eye 3D TV
3D TVs have always required the user to wear 3D glasses to view content, but with the new TV from Toshiba, one can now watch 3D content without the need for active or passive 3D glasses. This HDTV boasts a 4x full HD resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels and with the glassless 3D ability, this television is one of its kind. Speaking about the Regza 55X3, Toshiba Corporate Senior Vice President, Masaaki Oosumi said that they are targeting initial monthly sales of 1,000 units and hope to lift that number by taking the product overseas. This television will be available in Japan by December for approximately Rs. 5,84,096 (USD 11,730).
According to a report by TechCrunch, apart from the USP, which is its glassless 3D viewing quality, this TV boasts a contrast ratio of 5000:1, a new processor, which is the REGZA Engine CEVO Duo, REGZA LINK, LED backlit technology, four HDMI ports and two USB ports. This TV has a unique face tracking function that allows upto nine people at the same time to watch high quality 3D pictures depending on where the person is seated.
No word is yet available on the global rollout of this HDTV, but we surely are waiting to get our hands on it.
