One of the things we’ve wanted to know most about Sony’s PlayStation Portable successor, the Next Generation Portable (NGP), is its price. Sony have been tight-lipped about it ever since launch but we’ve finally gotten our hands on figures of some sort, regardless of how legit they are.
The 3G SKU will cost a pretty penny
According to Kotaku, a recently conducted survey sponsored by Ubisoft said “the retail price of the Sony NGP is expected to be $350” and went on to ask, "How likely would you be to purchase the Sony NGP now that you know this retail price?” That’s for the 3G SKU though, and the survey goes on to mention the WiFi only version will be priced considerably lower at $250.
Of course, this was found on a survey conducted by a third party and not Sony themselves, so the chances of this being complete hogwash is pretty high. Even so, it’s the first and most official thing we’ve heard about the price, and Ubisoft sound pretty confident in the survey, so it has to hold some weight.
