Would you put down Rs 1,12,20,000 for a 215 bhp, 1,299 cc engine monster held together with carbon-fibre, titanium and some rubber? Well, someone was that mad and he’s now the proud owner of only one of 500 Ducati 1299 Superleggeras to come out of Ducati’s hallowed factories.
At that price, it’s no wonder that the bike might be the only one to come to India. As reported by Motoroid, the lucky person to buy this monster of a bike is Vikram Oberoi. He already owns a Ducati 1299 Panigale S, a Ducati 916 and a Ducati 1098, so it’s clear that he’s quite a Ducati fan.
So why did he spend so much money on a bike?
Well, if that 215 bhp wasn’t enticing enough, did you know that the bike weighs a mere 156 kg (dry weight), translating to a phenomenal power-to-weight ratio? The bike is equipped with two 330 mm discs on the front and a 245 mm one at the rear. The frame is a carbon fibre monocoque and many of the critical parts are made from titanium. This is one solidly built, but extremely light bike.
This much power in the hands of a novice is a recipe for disaster. Expert bikers might also struggle with this beast. Keeping all that power reigned in and controlled are a host of features like ABS, DSC, DTC, etc.
