Instant messaging app Telegram has received an update today which brings in a bunch of new features. Primarily there are two new features including the ability to send video messages and bot payments.
With the new update, users can now send one minute video messages to their contacts. As an extension, Telegram now has a feature called Telescope which is video hosting service. Using this, video messages can be shared outside Telegram, which means that users not using the app can also view this videos. Videos that are recorded to share with a Telegram group or a channel can be shared with anyone using the unique URL.
As for the second big update, bots can now accept payments from users. In some course of time users will be able to order food, pay bills and even shop using bots on Telegram. Bot payments will also support Apple Pay.
According to a Telegram blog post, “Currently, most of the payments are handled by Stripe, but Telegram Bot Payments are a platform for payment providers all over the world. When accepting a payment from a user, the bot developer can choose between all available payment providers, selecting the one already used by the buyer or the one with the lowest commission.”
