Following the launch of its first co-branded smartphone, MTV Volt, Swipe has now launched the MTV Volt 1000 for a price of Rs 11,999.
Weighing in at 186 grams, the new smartphone runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and is powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor. This is backed by 1GB of RAM and an internal memory of 4GB, which can be expanded up to 32GB using a microSD card. The device has a 6-inch display with 5-point multi-touch and has a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels. The company claims that the new smartphone will enable users to manage multiple applications, work with larger databases and spreadsheets, and would also help in faster processing of audio and video files.
The MTV Volt 1000 is a portable TV as well as an Android smartphone
The new smartphone also has an 8 megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera. The dual-SIM device has a large 3,200 mAh Li-ion Polymer battery that the company claims will provide a talk time of 8-10 hours. In any case, given the non-demanding hardware, the battery seems ample. Swipe says the smartphone is available across 10,000 retail points in India, Swipe e-stores as well as online portals such as Flipkart, Snapdeal and Infibeam.
In terms of connectivity, the phone does have Wi-Fi, but there's no mention of whether it is a 3G-compatible device. But we would be highly surprised if it isn't. Like its predecessor, the new device will also feature an inbuilt TV player that will offer on-the-go access to MTV. Users will also get an FM radio player.
