Swipe Telecom has announced a dual-SIM tablet, the Swipe Halo Value. The tablet runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS and is priced at Rs 6,990.
The company claims this is the first tablet with dual-SIM capability and which also allows voice calling over 2G network. The tablet is powered by 1.5 GHz processor of unknown make and comes with 512 MB of DDR2 RAM.
Swipe Halo Value tablet with dual-SIM support
Weighing only 335 gms, the Halo Value has a 7 inch “Enhanced Display” with a 5-point multi-touch display. Swipe hasn’t mentioned the resolution but we reckon it will be a WVGA display, considering the price. There’s a 2-megapixel camera on the back and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera for video chatting and Skype.
Despite not being a high-end camera unit, Swipe has included features like Panoramic Shots and Multiple Shots. We are not sure if the panoramas and burst shots will be any good, though.
The Halo Value has inbuilt GPS with voice navigation support. There’s 4GB of internal memory, which can be boosted further thanks to the microSD card slot.
Battery life of 3400 mAh should ensure decent, if not outstanding battery life. The tablet comes pre-loaded with Olive Office Premium, E-book Reader and audio recording software. Swipe has bundled in a free leather sleeve worth Rs 699 along with the tablet.
Key specs of the Swipe Halo Value are:
- 7-inch TFT LCD multi-touch capacitive display
- Dual-SIM, voice-calling support
- Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Wi-Fi hotspot
- Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP
- 2MP rear camera, 0.3MP front camera
- 4GB of internal storage expandable up to 32GB via microSD card
The company had introduced a higher-speced tablet, the Swipe Legend Tab late last year, which brings a dual-core processor and 3G support. It also has a slightly larger battery, but was priced significantly more than the Halo Value, with a tag of Rs 11,999.
More recently, the company tied up with MTV to launch the Swipe MTV Volt smartphone and also released two other phablets, the Swipe Fablet F2 and Fablet F3. The MTV Volt has a six-inch display, an 854 X 480 pixel resolution, an 8-megapixel camera at the back and a price tag of Rs 12,999.
The two Fablet devices have modest specs. The F3 has a dual-core 1GHz processor, a 5-inch display of unknown resolution and a 5-megapixel shooter on the back. The F2 also has a 5-inch LCD with WVGA resolution and retains the camera of the F3. However, it is powered by a single-core 1GHz processor. The F2 and F3 are available for Rs 7,590 and Rs 9290 respectively.
