Believe it or not, Spice's latest smartphone, the Stellar Mi-530, has a 5 megapixel front-facing camera, which is something we've never seen featured on a smartphone by an Indian manufacturer. The high resolution of the camera should make for high quality video calls and self-shots.
Besides the camera, the device has a 5.3-inch screen with a qHD resolution of 960 x 540 pixels. On the back there’s a more traditional 8 megapixel camera with LED flash that's capable of recording 1080p video.
The Spice Stellar Mi-350 comes with quite a good front camera
Powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor, the Spice Stellar Mi-530 has 1GB of RAM. A big 2550mAh battery should comfortably keep the handset powered on for an entire day. However, unlike competitor smartphones, the Mi-530 will come with Android 4.0 instead of Jelly Bean.
The Micromax A116 Canvas HD and the Karbonn S1 Titanium are both set to launch with Jelly Bean, so despite good specifications, this Spice device might be at a disadvantage when it comes to the OS version.
The handset is a dual-SIM device and one of the SIMs can be used for 3G. Besides mobile data, the handset supports Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and aGPS. It has 16GB of internal memory along with a MicroSD card slot that supports additional memory up to 32GB.
The Spice Mi-530 is up for sale at an online retailer for Rs 13,999.
Spice has also released the budget Stellar Nhance Mi-435, which has a 4-inch display with a 800x480 pixel resolution. It runs Android 4.0 and also comes with an 8 megapixel rear camera with fixed focus and 5x digital zoom, while there is a 1.3 megapixel camera on the front.
The dual-SIM device is powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor with 512MB of RAM. It has 4GB of internal storage and supports microSD cards up to 32GB. The Stellar Nhance Mi-435 has a 1,500mAh battery and costs Rs 7,199.
Earlier this month, the company launched the dual-SIM Ice Cream Sandwich-based Stellar Virtuoso and the Stellar Pad tablet. The Stellar Virtuoso Mi-495 has a 9.44mm thick body and is powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor. This smartphone also has an 8 megapixel auto-focus camera with flash.
The Spice Stellar Pad Mi-1010 has a 10.1-inch screen and runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, which makes us wonder why Spice couldn’t have used the same operating system for the new phones. The Stellar Pad has a 1.5GHz dual-core CPU and a quad-core GPU, and is powered by a 7,600mAh Lithium ion polymer battery. It's packed with 16GB of internal memory and comes with a leather cover worth Rs 2,000 and a USB ‘on-the-go’ cable.
