The Xperia Z is listed as available for Rs 38,990, while the Xperia ZL, its sister phone is available for Rs 35,990. This pricing coincides with what we had expected based on the grey market prices of the handsets.
The Xperia Z and ZL, share many specifications, but the Z is the better outfitted of the two thanks to the IP57 certification that makes it water-proof and dust-proof.
The Xperia Z and ZL are up for pre-order
Both phones have a 5-inch full HD display with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels; however, the Xperia ZL is much smaller compared to the Z. The two devices also share the SoC in the form of the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro. That means four cores ticking at 1.5 GHz along with an Adreno 320 GPU. They both have 2GB of RAM.
Another standout feature of both smartphones is the 13 megapixel camera on the back. The Exmor RS sensor used in the camera allows users to record HDR video.
The Xperia Z and ZL have displays with Sony's Mobile Bravia Engine 2 running underneath. The engine supposedly enhances the image quality and colours when viewing pictures and videos. The Xperia Z has a 2330 mAh Lithium-ion battery, while the ZL gets a slightly bigger capacity of 2370 mAh. Both phones have Sony’s proprietary Stamina Mode that the company claims can improve the standby time of the phone by up to four times by shutting down battery-draining apps whenever the screen is off and starting them up again when the screen is back on.
