Sony releases PlayStation Video app for Android TV

Sony's PlayStation Video app has been a good resource for movies and TV shows and now the app is finally available on Android TV. It makes perfect sense for having an app that offers video content built for large displays.

Just like the regular app, the Android TV version offers users access to the PS Video library, which means you get access to all your content purchased from the PlayStation store using your PS3, PS4 or an Android device. Users can also purchase new content directly from the app on Android TV and start streaming.

The best part is that users will be able to stream new movie releases without having to wait as Sony said most movies will become available before or the same day as the DVD release. Surely, this will be the case for Sony-partnered movies, but will this also apply for other movies? We doubt it. Apart from that, TV shows from major networks will also be available for purchase.

The new PlayStation Video Android TV can be downloaded from the Google Play Store for free and if you are wondering, then yes these videos will still be accessible through an Android app, the PS3 and PS4 as well as through the web.
