2012 may be the year when quad-core smartphones finally take precedence and in the process push the overall internal speeds of handsets to an all new level. This started with the HTC One X and was followed by a range of other manufacturers with the most recent being the highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy S III. With the dust of the announcement just about settling on the flagship model from Samsung, one of their competitors, Sony is planning on unveiling a high end model in the near future. This model from Sony is codenamed LT29i Hayabusa and for the first time it has been revealed through a very blurry cam shot. However, unlike the flagships from HTC and Samsung, this handset is expected to feature a Sanpdragon S4 processor that is by no means short on speed and is similar to the processor found on the HTC One S.
First image of the handset surfaces
This is not the first time that the LT29i Hayabusa has surfaced as back in January, a listing of the handsets to be revealed by Sony had featured this model. Later on, in April, on photo sharing website Picasa, sample images of the LT29i had surfaced, detailing some of the specifications that are expected to be found on it. However, there had been no actual image of the high end Sony handset available for our viewing pleasure until now. A report by Xperia Blog who has obtained the image courtesy of it168.com states, “The image only shows the back of the phone with the camera lens at the very top edge of the chassis. It also has the Sony Ericsson liquid energy sphere on the back, which we understood that Sony Mobile was going to phase out. The Hayabusa is rumoured to launch with a 4.55-inch high resolution (720 x 1196) display, 1.5GHz dual-core processor and 13 MP camera.”
From previous reports regarding the Sony LT29i, these are some of the specifications expected to be found on the Sony LT29i Hayabusa:
- Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich
- 1.5 GHz Qualcomm S4 processor
- Adreno 225 GPU
- Resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels
- Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi Internet access
- NFC Share, DLNA Share
From the report that had surfaced in January, the pricing of the handset is expected to be around 495 Euros, which roughly translates to around Rs. 33,489.
