This is the only smartphone that hasn’t quite made it here in India officially. We saw the Xperia Play and Xperia Arc (we even reviewed the Xperia Arc) coming out but The One is still missing. However, it looks like the Xperia Neo is out – although not officially and is available on Infibeam.
The one in India?
It’s not a pre-order, rather the Xperia Neo is up for order and is available at Rs. 24,650. The site says that the smartphone will be shipped in 2-3 “business days” (something which the consumer should address with the site itself, we’re not responsible if they take an off on a full-work day Monday!). The Xperia Neo runs on Android Gingerbread with SE’s Timescape UI running on top of the OS. The handset is powered by a 1GHz Scorpion processor and there’s the Adreno 205 for a GPU. The rest of the specifications are as follows:
- 3.7-inch LED Backlit LCD screen with a resolution of 480 x 854 pixels
- 3G, Wi-Fi, DLNA, Wi-Fi Hotspot, GPS with A-GPS support
- Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP
- 8 megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash
- 3.5 mm audio jack
- Stereo FM Radio with RDS
- Memory expandable up to 32 GB via microSD
- HDMI port
The camera has records videos at 30 fps and has features like geo-tagging and face and smile detection. The smartphone also has SNS integration and has Adobe Flash 10.1 support. The Xperia Neo’s display has the Sony BRAVIA engine as well.
For now, that’s all we have about the Xperia Neo. Infibeam lists the price as 24,999 but we don’t know whether to consider that as the official price or not. Anyway, the official launch doesn’t look too far off either.
