Sony announces the Xperia Neo L

Sony has announced an addition to its existing line-up of Xperia smartphones. Dubbed the Xperia Neo L, this Ice Cream Sandwich running smartphone will sell in two colours – glossy black and glossy white. It has a 4-inch display with a 1GHz Qualcomm processor and 512 MB of RAM. It also looks quite similar to their popular Xperia Neo V, but this will be the first smartphone that will come with ICS onboard.

Here’s a look at the specifications of the Sony Xperia Neo L:

  • 4.0-inch TFT touchscreen with a 480 x 854 pixel resolution
  • 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8255 processor, 512 MB of RAM
  • Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich
  • 1GB internal storage
  • 3G, EDGE/GPRS, Wi-Fi
  • GPS with A-GPS support
  • Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, USB 2.0
  • 5 megapixel camera with LED flash, 720p video recording
  • Secondary VGA camera
  • Stereo FM radio with RDS
  • Memory expandable up to 32GB via microSD card
  • 3.5 mm handsfree socket
  • 1500 mAh Lithium - ion battery

The design doesn’t look anywhere close to the new Xperia S, P and U that Sony has announced in the recent past. However, it does have a form factor that reminds you of the older generation Xperias. In terms of features, the Neo L will have gesture control as well. As reported by Unwired View, there are chances that this smartphone will hit the Chinese market first, but also there are chances that it could be the last markets the Neo L will hit. Pricing and availability for the Xperia Neo L hasn’t been announced as of now, but looking at the specs alone, we’re not too sure if we would like this above Rs. 17,000; if it does come to Indian shores. The Neo V is selling in that price bracket as well. As a reminder, the other smartphone, the Xperia S is already selling for Rs. 32,000 so if you’re in the market for a high end smartphone, be sure to check that out as well.
