Long time iPhone users are likely to breathe a sigh of relief with the upcoming iPhone X. According to
a report by iDownloadblog, the side buttons in the iPhone X are likely to be ‘non-moving’, and ‘multifunctional’. However, the most significant change that the report pointed out was the side buttons on the iPhone X will be ‘customisable’. [caption id=“attachment_4025183” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] A leaked icon of the iPhone 8 as found in the HomePod firmware[/caption] This means that users can change the functions of the side button from the one intended out of the box. The report points out that the ‘Side button’ is the new renamed power and clock button. The default actions of the Side button include ‘Click and hold’ to invoke Siri, double-click on the button to invoke Wallet or Apple Pay and last but not the least, pressing the ‘Power’ button and ‘Side’ button at the same time will send an ‘emergency SOS’. Moving towards other newly discovered features, Apple has finally added ‘Type to Siri’ along with the previously reported ‘Face ID’ as the new accessibility settings. Users can also set one of the ‘Side button’ to Face ID to allow interesting features like reducing the brightness of the display, unlocking the device or decreasing the volume of the alerts.
Looks like D22 will have a 'fake' side button, like the home button on the iPhone 7

Last but not the least, these ‘Side buttons’ will not be movable or clickable.
