The over-the-top shooter Serious Sam 3: BFE was a PC exclusive released last year. Now, according to Eurogamer, the game makes its way to Xbox Live Arcade on October 17. The port is being made by the same developer – Croteam – and will have the recently announced Children of the Nile expansion pack launch alongside it. The port also features all of the game modes from the original, such as co-operative campaign and multiplayer. Both the game and the expansion pack will be priced at 1200 Microsoft Points which roughly converts to Rs 800.
Serious Sam 3: Jewel of the Nile follows the protagonist, whose name if you haven’t already guessed is Sam, to the Temple of Isis on an island called Philae where a monstrous temple guardian is said to lie in wait. The events of the expansion pack are set during the events of Serious Sam 3: BFE. Sam and his team will have to battle through three new campaign missions against hordes of enemies, who are all under the control of Mental.
Now fight the big scary red dude on your Xbox 360!
Here are some of the main features of Serious Sam 3: Jewel of the Nile, as per the official website:
- Three new missions set against a mysterious island, treacherous canyons, and ancient temples
- Battle against the powerful Aludran Reptiloid for the first time in Serious Sam 3 and face-off against an all-new gargantuan final boss.
- More laser rifles, more sniper rifle, new battle axes
- New challenging Steam achievements
Back in July, it was revealed that the developers of the game, Croteam, are working on getting Serious Sam 3: BFE working on Linux. This came shortly after Valve’s announcement of porting Steam and Left 4 Dead 2 to Linux. "We're in the process of integrating Steamworks and achievements and the whole shebang, but we can't get the little fucker of a penguin to stand still," said publisher Devolver Digital's chief financial officer Fork Parker in the announcement.
This is good news for all those people who have wanted to get rid of the Windows partition on their hard drive but couldn't because of the lack of games on Linux. The number of games available on Linux is about to swell considerably due to Valve working on getting Steam on the Ubuntu distribution of Linux - an operating system previously mostly used by hackers and developers.
Along with the Xbox 360 version, the PC version of Serious Sam 3: Jewel of the Nile will be available on Steam, Get Games, and other digital retailers for $9.99 (around Rs 515).
