Season 1 of TellTale's Walking Dead series to conclude next week

One of the Ur Examples of episodic games done right has been Telltale's take on The Walking Dead universe. According to Eurogamer, the first season of the zombie-apocalypse adventure game is set to come to an end next week.

The final episode, named No Time Left, will be released on November 21 on Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network, PC, Mac, and iOS. Along with the announcement of the final episode, Telltale has released a trailer that shows the stats regarding some of the most important choices that players have to make in the games. It goes without saying that the trailer contains major spoilers.

Back in October, it was revealed that the Walking Dead series is set to be released as a boxed copy for the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360. The boxed copy will be released on December 4, 2012, and will cost approximately Rs 1,600.

In October, Telltale had released episode 4 of the series, which is set to be the penultimate episode. In Episode 4, in the wake of terrible loss, the group arrives in Savannah in search of a boat and escape from the horrors around them. Stalked by an unseen human threat and the constant menace of the undead, Lee must decide how to deal with an increasingly paranoid group and above all, how to protect Clementine. The trailer gives some hints of the story, such as some mysterious “mad man” on the radio and a character, presumably a girl, dressed in red beats up the main character Lee. Along with the trailer, Telltale has also released some screenshots for The Walking Dead: Episode 4 – Around Every Corner.

The latest episode will automatically download for players who own the Season Pass for the game, which costs $19.99 (Rs 1,100 approximately). Players can also buy each episode separately, with the latest episode costing $4.99 (around Rs 280). The episode will also be available on Xbox Live Arcade (XBLA) Wednesday, August 29 for 400 Microsoft Points (around Rs 280) as DLC (downloadable content) within the original The Walking Dead XBLA release and also on PC and MAC as part of a Season Pass on the Telltale Games Store, as well as through Steam and Origin.

Players who have read the graphic novel or seen the TV show will meet familiar characters such as Glenn in the game. There are also new characters that can live or die depending on the choices the player makes in each episode.

The main story of the Walking Dead universe is that zombies have overrun most of America and a rag tag bunch of survivors must do whatever it takes to survive. The comics tread a very dark path by highlighting some truly unspeakable acts performed by the humans, as opposed to the zombies. Though the game’s tone isn’t quite that dark, there are still glimpses of it in the first episode.
