Say Hello to AMD's Dual-GPU Beast - the Radeon HD6990

Hold on to your horses, AMD haven’t officially released the long-rumoured HD6990 yet. However, what they have done is sent out press images of the card, some of which HEXUS got their hands on. This marks the first official confirmation of the HD6990’s existence.

It's nearly here!

It's nearly here!

The card will powered by two power-optimized versions of the GPUs used in the HD6970, which will probably put its TDP in the 300W range. This probably also means the card will have nearly 3,000 shaders, 4GB of onboard GDDR5 memory and 300GB/s of combined memory bandwidth. Woah.

I for one can’t wait to test this mammoth out. While these Dual-GPUs cards are never going to set the sales charts on fire, they’re major influences on how the respective brands come out looking. With the GTX590 also rumoured to be coming out soon, this is going to be one war worth keeping an eye on.
