Samsung’s foldable phone expected to debut in January 2016

Remember those **futuristic devices** that we always hoped would become reality someday? Well, looks like Samsung is working on at least one of them to hit store shelves soon. According to prolific Samsung tipster SamMobile, the company is working on a smartphone with foldable plastic display. Citing a source from China related to the matter, the report points out that the project dubbed ‘Project Valley’ is currently undergoing testing.

The foldable device is being tested in two configurations - one featuring Snapdragon 620 processor and the other with a Snapdragon 820 chipset. The report further adds that the device is set to launch in January next year. Some other specs include microSd card slot, 3GB RAM and a non-removable battery. The report also talks about the upcoming Galaxy S7 and how the company may employ the powerful Snapdragon 820. The company is believed to be aggressively testing the Snapdragon 820 Soc. The S7 is likely to be made available in two variants - one with Snapdragon 820 SoC and the other with Exynos 8890 processor. However, there is also the possibility of this high-end smartphone coming only to South Korea. Lately, Samsung has been experimenting with devices in the mobile space. We saw the company launch the **Edge and Edge Plus**  dual edge display variants. Besides, the company also launched a **flip phone** with dual displays and Snapdragon 808 SoC. Samsung isn’t enjoying the dominant position it once did and its numbers are sliding down the slippery slope, owing to several Chinese vendors that offer superior specs at affordable prices. Looks like, these new innovations are aimed at building an out of the box device that could help the company bounce back as a leader in the mobile space.
