In case you felt that adding a few more buttons to your TV remote would make you the super user for your beloved TV, Samsung has gone the whole nine yards. The Korean company is coming out with a dual-side Smart TV remote that has a QWERTY keypad behind a standard remote.
While the keys on the remote itself look more than enough, you can continue guessing what the QWERTY keypad is there for. Wait, that’s not it. There’s a small seven-segment LED (calculator-like) display over the keypad. It’ll be interesting to see what really comes out from that display.
Engadget has spotted a Yahoo! button on the remote, citing that as a reason why this won’t be supporting Google TV products. Also, the remote does look a little larger than usual but looking at the kind of features, maybe it should be that big after all.
To end with, it’ll be quite interesting (and disturbing.. maybe) to see how one can actually use the RMC-QTD1, but maybe we’ll have to wait till Samsung launches their line of Smart TVs for 2011. Till then, keep guessing different ways to use it.
