Samsung to showcase Smart Home service at CES 2014

Samsung plans to manage your home appliances and other consumer devices through a single integrated platform. Dubbed Smart Home service, the company will announce the new brand and its logo at CES tomorrow.

The Korean company has announced that the Smart Home service will be commercially rolled out across Samsung devices in the first half of the year. It will also be collaborating with partners to expand the service further.

Smart Home will let users control and manage home devices using a single app that connects personal and home devices such as refrigerators, washing machines, smart TVs, digital cameras, smartphones and also the Galaxy Gear through an integrated platform and server.

The service will also provide customised settings on their devices to monitor and control home devices. The home view will provide real-time views of the home via built-in camera in appliances. Lastly, the smart customer service feature will notify users about their appliance's servicing requirements and also assist with after-sales service.

Samsung isn’t the only company to launch such a service, LG also plans to unveil the HomeChat service that will let anyone control their home appliances using a smartphone. The company has announced a tie-up with messaging app Line in order to make the HomeChat service a reality.
