We’ve been following the story of the Samsung Galaxy Player for a while now, right from rumours of its existence to it being available for pre-order on Amazon UK. Samsung put all of this to rest at CES though, with an announcement that wasn’t exactly what their conference was based around but was still an impactful one.
The PMP features a 3.2-inch touchscreen, a 2 megapixel camera, Bluetooth, Wi-fi, 8 or 16GB of internal storage (expandable by upto 32GB via MicroSD) and access to Samsung Apps and the Android Market. This is interesting because this marks the first time a device without cellular radio (phone functions, basically) has been certified by Google and is able to access the Android Market via Wi-fi only. The device will also have access to the Samsung Media Hub, via which users can purchase and download music, movies and TV shows.
Though price and availability is still a question mark, Amazon UK has the Galaxy Player’s 16GB version priced at around Rs. 12,500 (
