The new Samsung Galaxy Tabs 10.1 and 8.9 were announced earlier this year and recently there were murmurs of the tablets making it to India pretty soon. That was confirmed at the recent Samsung Forum 2011 event, and now their pricing has also been revealed.
Priced and Primed for release
Samsung Mobile India Head Ranjit Yadav, speaking to the Business Standard, said the new Galaxy Tabs 10.1 and 8.9 will be priced at Rs. 35,000 and Rs. 28,000 respectively. “We will launch the 10-inch tablet PC at around Rs 35,000 and the 8-inch device will be priced around Rs 28,000. While the tablet PC market today stands at around 25,000 units a quarter, we expect it to grow exponentially here on.”
While that sounds promising for Tegra 2 and Android 3.0 Honeycomb powered devices, it must be noted that absolutely no information was given out regarding which variants those prices are for. Are those for the 3G-enabled tablets, or WiFi only ones? What about the capacity, 16GB or 32GB? All we have now are questions, so we certainly hope Samsung answers us with an official announcement soon.
