Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 to be launched in India tomorrow

After launching a bunch of Galaxy smartphones, Samsung is now preparing the launch of its new tablet range in India. The company’s India Twitter account has been tweeting about the forthcoming launch, but there’s no word on which tablet will be launched.

If you recall, Samsung has announced three tablets this year under the Galaxy Tab brand with the 7-inch, 8-inch and 10.1-inch models. It is likely that all three will be launched in India, though the company’s e-store has only listed two models as coming soon. That’s the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 and Tab 3 8.0.

Just like the Galaxy Tab 3 (the entry-level tablet), these two also sport physical home buttons and capacitive navigation keys. Samsung is going for a uniform look for all its products across price points and form factors. While some may like it, the inclusion of a physical button is weird in the Jelly Bean era, where most tablets (even the most low-end ones) have on-screen buttons.

The Tab 3 7.0 has a 7-inch display with a lowly WSVGA (1024 x 600) resolution, which is a tad disappointing in this day and age when tablets routinely come with 1280 x 800. It’s powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and 1GB of RAM, which should keep performance smooth. Moreover, the tablet comes with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean There’s a 3 megapixel camera on the back and a 1.9 megapixel camera on the front. Besides Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, the tablet has 3G support for voice and data so you can also use this as a giant phone.

The Tab 3 8.0, in comparison, is a more powerful tablet with a 1.5GHz quad-core processor and 1.5GB of RAM. The slightly larger 8-inch display has a WXGA (1280 x 800) resolution. There’s a 5-megapixel camera on the back along with a 1.9 megapixel front-facing shooter. This one too ships with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
