It was less than two weeks ago that the Froyo update for the Samsung Galaxy S went live. Now, Samsung Mobile India’s twitter feed has confirmed that the smartphone will get the newly-released Android version 2.3 – codenamed Gingerbread - as well. There is no ETA for now, but all we know is that the update will happen at some point.
This news was pretty much expected because of the Galaxy S boasting pretty similar specs to the Nexus S, which will ship with Gingerbread pre-installed. So there was no possibility of the phone not meeting processor requirements , or of the update going under evaluation. Jokes aside, the Galaxy S upgrade announcement took a much easier approach than the Optimus One’s, but it’s good to see updates confirmed for both phones.
We hope other manufacturers follow in their footsteps and start rolling out updates soon.
