There were rumors floating around that a 10-inch BlackBerry PlayBook was in the works. RIM has apparently decided to shelve these plans and focus their attention on a QNX powered smartphone. According to an exclusive report by N4BB, a 10-inch PlayBook was supposed to be in the pipeline which supposedly had features such as a higher resolution, SIM card slot with 4G and Wi-Fi support, thinner bezel, and other interesting features.
RIM pushing for a QNX powered 'Superphone'?
However, as a recent report by the same website suggests, RIM have cancelled these plans and now are fully focused on the ‘first QNX powered BlackBerry Superphone.’ They have said some of the key features of this handset will have a single-core 1.2GHz processor, 900 plus screen resolution and a 4.3-inch touchscreen.
The report suggests that in all likelihood the phone will feature a single core 1.2GHz processor but, there could be a possibility of a dual core processor fitted in it instead. There is no known release date of the upcoming QNX-enabled handset, however as the report suggests, it is going to be out sooner than expected.
