Last month, we told you that the Google Chrome browser may be headed to the PS3. The rumours were generated thanks to a hint in the PS3’s online webkit source code. Now, those rumours have surfaced again thanks to a Sony job listing.
Google and Sony in cahoots?
According to UberGizmo, Sony Network Entertainment has posted a job listing for a senior software engineer with an advanced knowledge of WebKit and other computer science subjects. Knowledge of the PS3 dev-tool, SDK and the Cell Broadband Engine is also a plus.
For the unaware, Google Chrome runs on the WebKit web browsing engine and the job requires knowledge of the PS3 SDK. You can see where we’re trying to go with this, yes? Either way, gamers have always been unsatisfied with the rather inadequate browser pre-installed on the PlayStation 3, and any news that hints at a change is good news.
