There are rumours going around about the RIM PlayBook starting from $399 (approx Rs. 18,200) for 16 GB. It moves on to increase $ 100 as the size doubles up. That is, you pay $499 (approx Rs. 22,800) for 32 GB and $599 (approx Rs. 27,400) for the 64 GB version.
While the launch of PlayBook will only be out in the first quarter of 2011 (and that is only in the U.S), the PlayBook will go global in the second quarter. Of course there are no specific dates announced, but that revelation will not be far off.
The pricing is competitive with the Apple iPad and Dell Streak. It has to be if they want to build up their shares in the tablet market. Some more rumors are that all the versions will be Wi-Fi only with the ability to tether to a BlackBerry for data services. The PlayBook will have different versions but all of them will come with a 7-inch multitouch LCD display, 5-megapixel camera with an additional 3-megapixel front-facing camera, 1GHz processor and 1GB of RAM. We’re keeping our fingers crossed, and we will send you the latest information as we come to know about it.
