Reddit removes deepfakes and other related threads which publish non-consensual pornography

Reddit has finally removed the subreddit "deepfakes" which has been circulating non-consensual pornographic content of female celebrities. The discussion platform changed its content policies after many online portals such as Twitter, Discord, PornHub and Gyfcat removed it.

Deepfakes is notorious for uploading pornographic content with faces of female celebrities swapped onto those of the porn stars using artificial intelligence.

Reddit in a statement said, "We want to let you know that we have made some updates to our site-wide rules against involuntary pornography and sexual or suggestive content involving minors. These policies were previously combined in a single rule; they will now be broken out into two distinct ones. As we have said in past communications with you all, we want to make Reddit a more welcoming environment for all users. We will continue to review and update our policies as necessary."

Reddit has reportedly removed r/deepfakes subreddit and not r/SFWdeepfakes where there is non-pornographic content face swapping of celebrities using the FakeApp.

This controversy erupted when Motherboard reported Gal Gadot's swapped images being found on a pornographic material. This was created by deepfakes using artificial intelligence. The algorithm used could swap the faces in such a way, that it masked the porn actor's faces with those of celebrities.
