Gaming company Razer has officially brought Nextbit, the company behind the cloud based Android smartphone, Robin. While there are no details around the financial deal but according to a post by the company, there is a decent equity portion to it.

Sales of the Nextbit Robin and its accessories have said to be ceased, however the company has said that it will offer warranties for another six months, and will keep supporting the Robin with software updates and security patches till February 2018. The brand will remain and operate as an independent division within Razer and will focus on unique mobile design and experiences. We might not see a Razer smartphone or tablet anytime soon, but Nextbit’s branding is probably going to get a ‘green’ makeover.

Nextbit began as a startup company that built a smartphone called the Robin which came with an interesting cloud feature where apps and media content could seamless transfer automatically between the internal storage and the complimentary cloud storage. The company started off with an initial Kickstarter goal of $500,000 which ended in a whooping $1.3 million.

Nextbit introduced the smartphone in India last year with a launch price of Rs 19,999. You can read our review of the smartphone over here .
