Rapper M.C. Hammer's developing a search engine

There is certainly a trend of celebrities becoming active social networkers with a strong internet presence. And then there are celebrities who want to become the Internet. I'm talking about Mr. Can't Touch This himself, M.C. Hammer, who announced at Web 2.0 that he's launching his own search engine. The search engine will be called, WireDoo and it's been a project in the making for two years now. Hammer is a rapper who was responsible for pushing rap and hip hop into mainstream pop culture in the nineties. His real name is Stanley Burrell and he said that his search engine will be very different from Google (or too legit to quit) in that WireDoo will provide deep search results.

"It's about relationships beyond keywords," he said at the event. He said that his search engine would deliver direct results, and in addition, it would also deliver possibly related search results. So for instance, if you look up the word "car", it will not only deliver meanings and types of cars but it would also bring up car insurance, styles, mechanics in your neighbourhood etc. The tagline for his search engine is, "Search once and see what's related." WireDoo, according to Hammer, is still being developed and is in pre-beta stage. It does have a website now that people can sign up for testing the product when a beta version is ready.
