Semiconductor and telecommunications equipment company Qualcomm posted a list of innovations and inventions that the company has implemented in Android-based smartphones in recent years. Qualcomm has put up the list of innovations in its blog post. This comes hours before the launch of the upcoming Apple iPhone 8, 8 Plus and iPhone X.
The list includes features like Quick charge, Fingerprint under Display, Iris Authentication, Facial Recognition, Depth Sensing via Structured Light, Bezel-less Design, OLED Display, 4K Display, Gigabit LTE, Bluetooth 5, 4K playback, 5.1 surround speakers, Bluetooth with apt-X HD support and HDR on mobile displays. The company claims that it has enabled some of the most notable ‘world firsts on Android’ with some of the features still being Android exclusive to this day.
Most of the features like Bezel-less screen, fingerprint-under display Gigabit LTE are expected to come with the upcoming iPhone X. The company also pointed out it's 'improveTouch’ technology allows OEMs to support screen displays with unique shapes and curves demonstrated in Andy Rubin’s Essential PH-1.
The reason for Qualcomm to list a wide variety of smartphones is because the chipset marker works closely with a number of smartphone makers ranging from Samsung, LG, HTC, Lenovo, Oppo, Vivo and Xiaomi for upcoming technologies. It also points out that the model is to make its inventions ‘available as broadly as possible’ in the industry with the licensing program.
