Meticulous preparedness, way in advance, especially when you promise the world an event of its kind, is a rare quality. Amongst the rare few is Qatar, which has plans underway to make the 2022 FIFA World Cup, that it's hosting, the most beautiful and exquisite spectacle for all football lovers.
The money power
12 years from now, Qatar will welcome 11 participant nations to world-class stadiums. What does world-class stadium imply? Comfortable seating, air-conditioned chambers, et al? Leaving the obvious aside, Qatar probably has thought of what most of us would just laugh off as an insane thought. The 2022 FIFA World Cup will see Qatar cool off heat-battered heads and tense moments with its fleet of solar powered ‘clouds’. Designed by a team from Qatar University, these ‘clouds’ will be remote controlled, and made of 100 per cent light carbonic materials, costing the Arabs a staggering half a million dollar for each of these.
What’s also interesting is that post the World Cup hoopla; these expensive constructions will be dismantled and shipped to the next hosting nation to promote the game.
