Remember the story of the PSP Phone not playing PSP games anymore and also it being a part of the XPERIA family? Well it seems that it won’t be a PSP phone after all (I honestly don’t want to classify it under the PSP category anymore). The phone is set to be rebranded as the Sony Ericsson Z1 as per sources.
There is a sneak preview of the Z1 in action, supposedly captured from Greece. The phone, which might be launched on 9th of December, is running on Android 2.3 aka Gingerbread. As spoken about earlier, if the phone doesn’t really carry the PSP tag at all, it will not be carrying the whole PSP online Catalogue of games, themes and more.
I wasn’t pleased to see that it won't support PSP games, but now that it's not a PSP device, I’m pretty cool about it. Of course, they are not changing their plans as per my personal views, but I feel that’s what most PSP fans will think as well. So it’s about a week from now for launch date. What will it be, a phone that plays some games, or a gaming device pretending to be a phone? Time will tell.
