Back in early September, we saw a video of a really stylish BlackBerry handset. At the time, we had nothing to go by except its metallic design up front and its leather-like finish on the rear. Besides the fact that it runs on BlackBerry OS 7.0, we had no other specifications of this handset that was dubbed the BlackBerry, no word on availability or even if this handset was nothing but a prototype. However, according to a report by Electronista, this handset is the real deal and it will be announced on the 27th of October 2011 at an event in Dubai.
This is one stylish looking BlackBerry
This handset is an exclusive collaboration between Porsche and BlackBerry and in fact it is named the 9980. It is similar in design to the Bold 9900, featuring stylized metal along with a glass look. The report states that it should feature a 1.2GHz Snapdragon processor, 2.44-inch display with a resolution of 640 x 480, 8GB of storage and a 5 megapixel fixed focus camera.
The report states that there is no information on whether this smartphone will have any Porsche related apps or themes. There is no word on a release date, pricing or availability but it is believed that it is targeted at the UAE and other countries where BlackBerrys sell well.
