Playstation Phone Finally Plays Something

Following the Playstation Phone’s spotting in China last week, there’s now a video uploaded that shows off the phone playing Playstation 1 titles Biohazard 2 (Resident Evil 2, for the uninformed) and Rage Racer.

The Xperia Play finally plays.

Before you rejoice, the games weren’t run natively but through an Android Market app called ROM Buddy which is, you guessed it, a PS1 emulator. Regardless, the controls all seem to work and the phone even has Select and Start buttons. We were a bit perplexed when the video that came out last week showed off the phone playing an Android Market game with tilt-only controls, but this has put our doubts on the device’s legitimacy to rest. Hopefully it'll have native support for games when it comes out.

It’s funny how the Playstation Phone, showing off the Xperia branding, has been getting leaked all over the place when it hasn’t even been announced officially yet! Obviously, there’s still no news forthcoming from Sony Ericsson about this matter, but we’re guessing the phone will be launched at their upcoming event in February at Barcelona.
