As eagerly anticipated as the next wave of flagship smartphones from Apple, Google and Samsung, it's safe to say that currently, all eyes are actually on OnePlus and its upcoming OnePlus 5 handset.
In terms of specifications, we expect nothing less than the best from OnePlus, and numerous leaks have said as much. The phone is expected to feature Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 platform, 8 GB of RAM and all the bells and whistles that one would expect from a phone selling at twice the price.
One of the highlights of the device is going to be the camera, says OnePlus. Now we’ve heard that the OnePlus will feature a dual-camera setup on the back, but what came as news to everyone was the fact that OnePlus has partnered with none other than DxO to develop the camera.
“We’re happy to announce that we have teamed up with DxO to enhance your photography experience with our upcoming flagship, the OnePlus 5,” said OnePlus’ diegohonz on the OnePlus forums.
To those not in the know, the DxOMark benchmark is considered as the gold standard as far as image quality ratings are concerned. It is one of the most comprehensive imaging benchmarks around and the fact that OnePlus is working with them is big news.
Etienne Knauer, SVP Sales & Marketing at DxO, said: “OnePlus has always been one of the leading innovators in the smartphone industry, and we are proud to partner with them and support their exciting mobile photography strategy.”
It would be an understatement to say that we’re excited to see what OnePlus will have to offer us this time around. They’ve consistently raised the bar as far as expectations from a smartphone are concerned and to expect less from their next flagship would be an insult.
As OnePlus is so fond of saying, never settle.
