Tegra 2 processors have been powering quite a few tablets and smartphones now and if there’s one thing that’s been missing - that’s 3D. Well, it looks like many people’s (not ours apparently) prayers have been answered with NVIDIA touted to release their latest Tegra 2 processor that’ll be supporting 3D.
Come Spring and NVIDIA will be releasing Tegra 2 3D processors for mobiles and tablets. There’ll be the AP25 version for mobiles and a T25 version for the tablets. Both of these will feature the dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor clocking 1.2 GHz. The processors will execute 5,520 MIPS (million instructions per second) which itself seems to be pretty fast for these devices.
It shouldn’t be surprising to see LG’s G-Slate to feature one of these processors as the tablets will be supporting 3D content. While the launch of these processors have not been confirmed as yet, the slide simply says “Spring 2011” which possibly indicates an approximate timeframe when these processors will actually hit stores.
