Apple iPhone users can now shoot Google’s much-praised Photo Sphere images natively as the Internet giant has launched a dedicated app for iPhone and iPad devices. A Photo Sphere is essentially a 360-degree panorama, which was introduced with the Google Nexus 4 and Android Jelly Bean. It’s part of the stock camera app on Android and is also available for non-Nexus devices through the Google Camera app for Android 4.4 KitKat and higher. The standalone Photo Sphere Camera app for iOS works on most recent iPhones with the exception of the iPhone 4.
With the new app, iOS users can use the phone’s camera to natively take a 360-degree panoramic image around a central axis. Once initiated the app will guide users and help them align shots thanks to an everpresent dot on the screen. When the frame align, the camera will automatically take a picture, allowing users to progress seamlessly. The final render results in a sphere, which can be posted online and is viewable as it is on Google +. In addition, final images can be posted to **Google's Map Views service.** When they are shot correctly, Photo Spheres look stunning and it’s easily one of the best ways to use a smartphone’s camera. Users can turn the final image into a ‘Tiny Globe’ too which basically wraps the image up to form a surrealistic globe-like shape. Have you taken a Photo Sphere with your iPhone yet?
